Alyson Camus from Rock NYC Live and Recorded wrote about our performance at Club Fais Do-Do on March 9th, 2018.
"[Play With Fire] led by singer/keyboardist Mark McKinniss surrounded by a large ensemble. McKinniss had definitively great vocals, strong and confident soaring above a layered sound, which sometimes evoked the classic sound of the ‘80’s with crafted guitar solos and sweet back up voices by singers Kaylie (McKinniss’ daughter), Carol Casey and Randi Douglas. The music was upbeat and as fun as a father-daughter musical dialogue, while his voice was soaring to some unexpected and out-of-the-range-for-your-average-guy heights."

On June 3, 2017, Play With Fire played its first gig ever, opening for Rick Derringer and The Standells at the beautiful Palace Theater in downtown Los Angeles. This was the opening song, "Crime of the Century," also to be found on their self-titled EP, "Play With Fire."
Play With Fire's music, a modern blend of R&B, rock, and reggae (with a few jazz sensibilities thrown in to make things interesting), takes their listeners through several eras and musical styles. Strong musicianship and soaring vocals, occasionally with a horn section -- that's Play With Fire.
Play with fire. Hmm. Could have two meanings. Skirting the edge of disaster. Taking a risk. Or, like Beethoven (or somebody) said: “To make a mistake while playing is insignificant. To play without passion is unforgivable.” Play With Fire.
